One of the landmark buildings of the old imperial capital of Japan is... an Orthodox Christian cathedral: Holy Annunciation in Kyoto.
St. Nicholas of Japan (baptized as Ivan Dmitrievich Kasatkin) brought Eastern Orthodoxy to Japan in the 1800s and, as is the typical Orthodox way, translated the New Testament and worship services in Japanese.
Even Emperor Meiji was impressed with his character, especially his Christian and diplomatic efforts.
