What is the Church?

This may seem like a nonsense question if you are a Christian, but from the Orthodox perspective this is a vital question.   The Church is misunderstood by Roman Catholics and Protestants alike.  Properly (and biblically) speaking, the Church is either 'the full body of Christ' - an organism that transcends space and time, or it is the visible local manifestation of it.  It is a physical and a spiritual entity, and it is not divided.
