7/22/2010: Why do Orthodox clergy where vestments? Why does it matter? [See details]
7/24/2010: Should the 12 feasts on the iconostasis be installed in order from left to right or right to left??? [See details]
7/22/2010: I have recently learned that Orthodox priests who are newly ordained are not permitted to hear confessions until granted the right by that priests Bishop. Does this mean when the laying of hand occurs the Priest is not given the power of that sacrament or is it just a local Orthodox tradition (by justistiction) to exclude the ability to be a confessor until the new Priest becomes more seasoned ? Please explaine this process to me. [See details]
7/22/2010: Are people who lived before the 1st century in hell? Orthodox Christianity did not arise until the 1st century. Countless other religions existed before it. Even if we assume that some members of the Jewish religion are in heaven, Judaism did not arise until the 1st century BC. Humans have been on the earth for 400 thousand years at the latest. So I was just wondering how you reconcile the fact that Orthodox Christianity is the one true faith, when it's existed for such a brief time in human history. [See details]
7/22/2010: Hello, I have a personal situation that I would like direction on. My father is Greek-Orthodox and my mother is Roman Catholic, we grew up learning about both and followed Easter in the Orthodox tradition. I was not baptized Greek Orthodox simply because my mom did not drive and we lived far from a Greek Orthodox church and there were many Catholic ones in the area. I have always been compelled to the Orthodox faith. I have followed saint days and have a strong belief. I wanted to convert long ago before I got married but my parents both got sick and it was difficult. I married a Catholic man and we got married in a Catholic church. Now that we have a son, I really want for us to convert and for him to be baptized into the Greek Orthodox faith. He is 9 months now and we would like to baptize him as soon as we can. What are the steps? Would we be able to convert and then baptize him? Or baptize him and then convert? Thanks so much [See details]
